How LED lights can make a difference

There are many people who will argue that the new technologies that have emerged in lighting are not all that they are advertised to be based upon the initial price. Even if you calculate that you only have five rooms in your home, plus a hallway, you will likely have at the very least 10 to 15 bulbs that will have to be converted from the traditional incandescent or compact fluorescent bulbs to what is being touted as the best thing to happen to the lighting industry since the invention of the bulb in the first place. What is this miracle product? It is LED lights.
LED (light emitting diodes) is a bulb that was created as an alternative to standard bulbs used as indicator lights. They were made to be without a filament, and given their solid construction they are nearly impervious to vibration and impact. This in turn has rendered them the bulb with the greatest durability and flexibility of any on the market. Still, with a price tag of $20 a piece the average customer doesn’t often know what to make of them. With the initial scenario of at least 15 bulbs to replace that is at least $300 if not more. To replace all of those lights with brand new traditional lighting it would only cost $30.
Where things start to change is when you begin looking at comparing the longevity of these products. The incandescent bulb is only capable of lasting a little over a month of nonstop use, or about 750 hours. The improved compact fluorescent bulb lasts much longer with just over a year, or 10,000 hours. Where the real shocker rests is with LED lights, which has a lifespan of approximately 100,000 hours, or about eleven and a half years of continuous use.
When you examine the cost of that eleven year period the out of pocket changes dramatically. It will cost you at least $300 for that time frame using LED lights to convert your whole house, whereas it will cost you nearly $4,000 in standard lighting to light your home for that same time period. In addition to that, it only requires 1.5 watts of power to get the same amount of light from LED lights that a 40 watt incandescent bulb produces.
LED light bulbs may have some people confused as far as the cost is concerned, but when you sit down and actually look at the numbers they can have a tremendous advantage for you and your family.
